Christian Poetry by Norma Beaird ![]() When Christ Says, "Peace Be Still" By: Norma Beaird, Copyright 2004, Today I sailed into a storm of rough and rocky seas, My ship of life was tossed into the waters of the deep. And as I stepped onto the bow to feel the howling wind, The crashing waves came overboard and hit me once again. This storm of life I'm going through is pushing me off course, But if my Captain is the Lord, then I won't have remorse. Remorse will only drive my ship if I give in to fear, And see the clouds around me with the rain that soon appears. For storms will come and storms will go but God will always stay, To navigate this earthly ride and send relief my way. Then as the Master sends relief, a lifeboat comes to me, To rescue me from satan's plans, upon this stormy sea. For God is in control of me when life does not make sense, And though all hell has broken loose, I'm worried, scared and tense. "Fear not", my child, the Lord replies; your help is soon to come, And you will see the Lighthouse in the presence of my Son. These storms that come are tests for us to build our weakened faith, That we will place our trust in God, in trials we must face. But while we're traveling in this storm and winds have torn our sails, I'll hold onto the Word of God and victory will prevail. For as I read the Word of God, I see so many lessons, Of saints of God who did endure and reaped abundant blessings. At times these saints within God's Word had no place left to turn, As with three Hebrew children, God came down; they did not burn. Then Paul and Silas were in jail while singing songs of praise, And then an angel of the Lord released them from their chains. And then a leper came to Christ with hurt upon his soul, For this poor man had lost his friends, but Jesus made him whole. Then Jairus came unto the Lord; his little girl had died, But Jesus touched this precious child and she came back to life. So no matter how dark it looks, a rainbow will appear, And let me see the sun again and take away my fear. My life is soon to testify in many ways and forms, That if a person trusts in God, He'll bring them through their storm. God's hand is not too short to reach this weakened hand of mine, His love will strengthen me today to stand the tests of time. Now I will stand upon His Word and know with strong assurance, That burdens laid at Jesus' feet will soon bring me deliverance. Too many prayers He's answered now; this walk of faith is real, My life is in good hands today when Christ says, "Peace be still". *From time to time, Mrs. Beaird's poetry will be featured on these pages.
